Animal Portraits in Oils

Animal Portraits in Oils - Fur, Feathers and Manes in Oils class - a Two-day workshop
Saturday, August 15 - 10:00-4:00 and Saturday, August 29 - 10:00-4:00

Class description:
A new class offering this year based on my passion for understanding the world of animals and capturing
them in Oil Painting. The first class will be dedicated to creating a fully developed underpainting using
linseed oil and one color of oil paint. The finished product on day 1 will look like a B/W photograph having
a wide range of tones and values. The second class will meet 2 weeks later, and then thin layers of color will be
applied bringing the monotone image to life.
This class is scheduled over a 2-week period to accommodate those students who work full time and must
travel to Sandwich on the weekend. If you have never painted in oils and want to try this course,
but hesitant to invest in more materials, I am happy to supply the oil paints, brushes and palette you will need.
You will have to supply a canvas or wood panel for painting on. Everyone needs to bring two high quality prints
of the animal you would like to paint. One print should be in black and white, and one print should be in color.
If you do not have a printer, you can get one printed at staples stores.

Tuition: $245
Experience Level: No experience necessary
Age Range: Children (with adult family member) and adults

Please bring a bag lunch to enjoy on the porch before we depart for the farm.
Scheduled dependent on adequate enrollment.

Space is limited to 8 students. This allows each person a large table space to work.
