Glass Mosaic Choose one session. Session 1: Monday & Tuesday, July 8 & 9 - 10:00-4:00 Session 2: Monday & Tuesday, August 12 & 13 - 10:00-4:00
Class description: Each student will design and construct an 8” x 8” mosaic using transparent and opaque glass from my extensive collection. We will begin the class discussing the principles of design, working with colored paper, and drawing ideas out. A demonstration in cutting and grinding glass will be given and then students can start to build their mosaic. You will build your design on a wood substrate, using glue to hold pieces in place. The final step will be to set the glass permanently with colored mortar. Your design can be abstract and playful exploring colorful patterns, or realism, or exploring drawing on the wood substrate or using photos with transparent glass on top. The possibilities are endless. You will leave with a finished work of art to hang on your wall. Please bring magazine images, your drawings, photos or other any sources of inspiration for your mosaic.
