I will be demonstrating building and stretching a canvas. Students will practice drawing in the landscape, perspective, and composition in the morning, then move outside in the afternoon to paint the mountains, trees and fields that surround the studio. At the end of the day the class will gather in the main studio to share discoveries. There is a covered deck where students can work in case of rain. This two-day class allows participants to deepen their understanding of a particular subject matter, work on a larger scale, and work on more complex compositions. Students must bring most of their materials, a list of supplies needed for the class will be sent out after registration is completed. A variety of stretcher frames, canvas, wood panels and gessoed paper will be supplied for experimentation. If you are a beginner and the expense of purchasing materials is prohibitive, I am happy to supply the oil paints and brushes so you can figure out if this is a medium you want to work in further.
